Gerrardstown, West Virginia - There was a line this morning at the Peacemaker National Training Center's Independence Range. Apparently word of NRA's Electronic Target event had sufficiently spread to the surrounding area. With license plates ranging from as far north as Pennsylvania and as far south as South Carolina, one had to wonder what inspired these invested shooters to travel so far?

"Just came down to sight in my rifle," said George from Pennsylvania. "Luckily I brought some of my other guns. Man that was fun."

Part of what makes electronic targets fun is the fact that you don't have to wait for your results. Thanks to the handy dandy screen, provided by the ShotResponse scoring system, you can instantly see where every shot lands as soon as they hit the target. After your... Read more...

The NRA YHEC Mid-America Expansion Project is off to a great start in 2012 with more and more Youth Hunter Education Challenge events taking place across the Midwest. Thanks to YHEC Program Coordinator Susan Hill for the following report and photo from another first-time YHEC event, this time in Kansas.

On March 30, 2012, the CHIEF homeschool group conducted their first annual Youth Hunter Education Challenge event at the Tall Grass Hunting Lodge in Junction City, Kansas. Event Directors Justin and LaNae Jackson, along with their 10 children, organized the event and gathered volunteer support. There were 64 participants and 40 volunteers in attendance.

Kirk Cherry, owner of the Tall Grass Hunting Lodge, was very generous in allowing the group to use his beautiful facility and vol... Read more...

Gerrardstown, West Virginia - Around 8 o'clock last night, thanks to a little assistance from Google Maps and my iPhone, I finally found my way to our staging area for today's Electronic Target Event at the Peacemaker National Training Center. Liz, Eric and the rest of the crew were already out for dinner and I was left to my own devices ... checking equipment, charging equipment and figuring out the easiest route to the range.

What we're offering today is a chance to bring out your rifles and pistols for an electronic target outing. Using the same technology you'll see this summer during the Olympics Shooting events in London, these targets eliminate the need for cease fires and keep you at the firing line.

They keep you at the firing line because you don't need to replace the target... Read more...

Starting at 9 am tomorrow morning, National Firearms Museum Director Jim Supica and Senior Curator Phil Schreier will be on hand at the National Rifle Association of America Collectors Gun Show at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Located at 401 East 58th Avenue in downtown Colorado, the show will run in conjunction with the Colorado Gun Collectors Gun Show.

On display will be some of the best firearms in existence — each battling for more than $12,000 in cash awards. And as always, the best display will be honored with the E. Andrew Mowbray Educational Trophy for Exhibit Excellence.

"Each year we see more and more dazzling displays," said Supica. "I'm sure we're going to see some great exhibits here in Denver and we thank the great volunteers and staff from the Colorado Gun Collectors... Read more...

Gwen Chermack, NRA Field Representative for Colorado sent us this great story about Friends of NRA giving a generous grant to a local 4-H club and shooting range in Summit County.

	Summit County, Colorado -
The Board of County Commissioners and members of the Summit County 4-H recently accepted two grant awards from the Central Rockies Friends of the NRA to make improvements to the public shooting range and to provide support to the 4-H Shooting and Archery programs. The grant awards were $12,000 and $4,500 respectively and will help the County and 4-H make improvements to facilities and provide education and supplies for the many enthusiasts around the county. The grants were provided from fundraising events held throughout the year by Friends of the NRA.
